Mod Ionadail Shruighlea 2012 took place on the 19th and 20th May and the event was once again a great success, with junior entries up 50% on the previous year.
This year marked the 50th anniversary of the Mod and several special events took place to mark the occasion, including an impromptu ‘Massed Choir’ which took place in the centre of the town prior to the start of the senior competitions. The choir was conducted by Kenneth Thomson and the performance was watched by a good crowd of both visitors and locals alike.
Stirling Council hosted a Civic Reception which was attended by committee members past and present, local dignitaries as well as many others who have supported the Mod over the years. Provost of Stirling, Mike Robbins, presented the Snowdon Rosebowl to Stirling Gaelic Choir who won the four-part choral singing competition.
Mod Convenor, Mary Ann Brown, extends a huge thank you to all those who made the 50th Mod such a special occasion.
