All of us at An Comunn Gàidhealach were saddened to hear of the passing of John Morrison earlier today.
John was Chief Executive of An Comunn Gàidhealach for 12 years, until his retirement in 2020. Prior to his role as Chief Executive, he served on the Àrd Chomhairle for several years. He did a huge amount of work for the organisation and indeed for the Gaelic language throughout his life. He was heavily involved in Gaelic in the Dundee area, in particular the Aberfeldy Local Mòd.
John lived in Broughty Ferry with his wife, Fiona. They had a son, Ruairidh. John was from the district of Ness, in Lewis and he always enjoyed talking about the history of his homeland and telling stories about Ness. He also enjoyed football, was a keen Dundee fan and could often be heard on Radio nan Gàidheal discussing Dundee games.
John will be greatly missed. We remember Fiona, Ruairidh, Kirsty and his wider family and friends at this difficult time.
