An Comunn Gàidhealach has announced the appointment of Peigi MacLennan as Interim Chief Executive Officer.
Peigi will take up the role for a one year period, succeeding James Graham who is transitioning to a new role at Bòrd na Gàidhlig after more than fifteen years with the organisation.
Peigi MacLennan, a native of Breasclete on the Isle of Lewis, has been a vital part of An Comunn Gàidhealach since 1999.
Holding a degree in Gaelic Language and Culture from the University of the Highlands and Islands, she has served as the organisation’s Company Secretary and Office Manager, providing steadfast support to successive Chief Executive Officers in managing financial, administrative and operational matters.
Her 26-year tenure with An Comunn Gàidhealach, extensive experience and deep commitment to the Gaelic language and culture make her ideally suited to step into this leadership role.
James will continue in his current position on a part-time basis from August, until the conclusion of this year’s Royal National Mòd in Lochaber, when Peigi will take up the interim position on a full-time basis.
Peigi MacLennan said: “It is an honour to take on the role of Interim CEO at such a pivotal moment for An Comunn Gàidhealach. I am deeply passionate about the Gaelic language and culture, and have dedicated the last 26 years of my career to supporting the continued success of the Royal National Mòd and the promotion of Gaelic across Scotland. I look forward to leading the organisation over the coming year with passion and determination.”
Maggie Cunningham, Chair of An Comunn Gàidhealach, said: “Peigi brings a wealth of experience and a profound commitment to the Gaelic language and culture. Her knowledge of the organisation, her vast network and enduring passion make her the perfect person to step into this interim role. “Peigi and the Board will work together over the next year to consider the best organisational structure for An Comunn Gàidhealach in the longer term.”
An Comunn Gàidhealach is working closely with Bòrd na Gàidhlig to ensure James’ smooth transition between posts.
