  • Donnie Murdo Macleod -Sguab is Dlòth

Donnie Murdo Macleod -Sguab is Dlòth

Donnie Murdo Macleod, originally from Stornoway in the Isle of Lewis, is one of the leading traditional Gaelic singers of his generation. He won the National Mod Traditional Gold Medal in 1996, which brought his singing to a wider audience. But even before that, he was regarded, by all who came across his talent, as a singer of great depth, with an extraordinary capacity for faithfully learning songs from the Gaelic tradition, many of which were, and are, ignored by other singers. This is his first album and it contains some of the many songs Donnie has learned from the great tradition bearers of a past generation, for whom he has the utmost admiration and respect.

  • Eilidh Mackenzie - Eideadh na Sgeulachd

Eilidh Mackenzie - Eideadh na Sgeulachd

"Some of today's brightest musicians and singers accompany Eilidh on this, her first solo recording. Imaginative arrangements and production, tasteful new interpretations in both traditional and original songs, written (words, music or both) by Eilidh herself. Unpredictable and fresh is the treatment of songs on this release. There is an effective mixture of old and new, accompanied and unaccompanied, all delivered with sensitivity and assuredness." - Lianne Bradshaw, Prince Edward Island June 1992

  • Finlay MacNeill - Fonn is Fuaran

Finlay MacNeill - Fonn is Fuaran

Finlay MacNeil recorded this album in 1982, but like all classic albums it never ages, so we are proud to re-issue it on CD. Finlay was born on the Island of Lewis, and although he was brought up in Port Glasgow, Gaelic was his first and best loved language. As well as singing he became a highly respected and prize winning piper. Over the years he has established himself as a favourite singer among Gaelic and non-Gaelic speakers alike. He is joined on this album by other fine musicians and singers such as Duncan MacGillivary, Brian MacNeill, Alan Reid, Stuart Anderson, Brian Miller, Dorothy & John Boa and Alison Kinnaird.
