A’ Chailleach - talk by Dr Alasdair Whyte

Published: 17 Jun 2020

Place-names, lore & song from Muile/Mull (online event) The Cailleach is a legendary figure in Gaelic culture. Localised versions of her are known across the Gàidhealtachd: to some in Earra-Ghàidheal/Argyll she is A’ Chailleach Bheur but to others she is Cailleach Beinn a’ Bhric or Cailleach
Mhòr Chlìbhric, to name but a few.

Join Dr Alasdair C. Whyte (University of Glasgow & Gaelic Ambassador of the Year 2019) as he shares place-names, lore and song associated with The Cailleach from his own area and beyond.

This talk is free and is suitable for Gaelic speakers and learners of the language, although a basic understanding of the language would be advantageous.

The event will take place online via Zoom. To register your place, book here: https://tinyurl.com/y8w8ar74
