It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Norman Maclean on the 31st of August at the age of 80 years.
Norman was a hugely talented man and was famous across the Gaelic community and beyond, as a brilliant comedian, actor, singer, teacher, poet, author and piper. Tormod was renowned for his exceptional knowledge of Gaelic language and culture and for inspiring so many youngsters and musicians to continue the Gaelic tradition.
Tormod was a Mòd Gold Medallist, winning the coveted award in 1967. In the same year, he was also crowned as the An Comunn Bàrd- the only person ever to receive both awards in the same year.
Our thoughts and sympathies go out to his family and friends at this sad time.
